How to be a Citizen Scientist
Biological records are key tools for helping us increase our understanding of our habitats and environment around us.
We want to increase the biological data available for Outwood Park, and you can help!
- If you know what you are looking at: Submit your record to Greater Manchester Local Record Centre (GMLRC)
- If you need help to identify what you are looking at: Why not download the iNaturalist app to your phone, available on both Play Store and App Store.
Annual Citizen Science events to take part in:
- The Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) monitors non-breeding waterbirds in the UK. Join existing volunteers undertaking wetland bird surveys along the banks of The River Irwell. See current data and to get involved click here!
- RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch Normally takes place at the beginning of the year. Counting birds in your local park will play a vital role in helping us understand how UK birds are doing. Check out the RSPB website for more details!
City Nature Challenge. Normally hosted in the spring, the City Nature Challenge runs a weeklong event to motivating people to get out and find and document the wildlife that is occurring in their cities. Lancashire Wildlife Trust normally hosts Greater Manchester’s event, check out their website for more details!
